The LAZ-R-SHROUD is intended to provide protection from the beams emitted and scattered from various laser sources. We recommend contacting a Lase-R Shield, a Division of Sperian Protection, Inc. technical sales engineer directly to discuss your specific barrier requirements.

The LAZ-R-SHROUD barrier provides a limited resistance to incident laser beams. The ability of the barrier to withstand an exposure depends on the laser beam power, size, exposure time and the laser wavelength as shown in the figure below.

Four types of laser barriers are available:

  • Type LB-100 LAZ-R-SHROUD has been shown to withstand laser exposures at irradiance levels incident on the barrier which do not exceed 100 W/cm² for beam sizes 5mm or less when the exposure time is 100 seconds or less.
  • Type LB-300 LAZ-R-SHROUD has been shown to withstand laser exposures at irradiance levels incident on the barrier which do not exceed 300 W/cm² for beam sizes 5mm or less when the exposure time is 100 seconds or less.
  • Type LB-200 LAZ-R-SHROUD has been shown to withstand laser exposures at irradiance levels incident on the barrier which do not exceed 200 W/cm² for beam sizes 5mm or less when the exposure time is 100 seconds or less.
  • Type LO-BAR laser barrier has shown to withstand laser exposures at irradiance levels incident on the barrier which do not exceed 2 W/cm² for beam sizes 5mm or less when the exposure time is 100 seconds or less.

It should be understood that larger beam sizes can effect a reduced laser beam resistance and the exposure limit for beam penetration in those cases may be less than is specified above.

All personnel using the RLI barriers shall follow the control procedures and protective eye and skin requirements as specified in the ANSI Z-136.1 standard: For The Safe Use of Lasers.

The barriers can be cleaned with mild soap and water.

Guide to Ordering Sliding or Roller Curtains

Measure area you wish to enclose or divide (lengths, widths, and heights).

  • Select corners - right angle for normal use, curved track to move curtains around corners. (curved track has 2 foot radius so 2 foot less straight track is needed on either side of curve).
  • Selecting mounting hardware - provide one support every 10 foot; closer for heavy or very tall curtains. Select from four mounting types:
    • Suspended - hung from overhead support by chain or threaded rod.
    • Ceiling - mounts track flush against flat ceiling surface. (Plan for 2 inches between top edge of curtain and ceiling to accommodate hardware).
    • Wall - mounts track flush against or perpendicular to walls.
    • Floor - for freestanding partitions up to 8 foot high.
  • Rollers - order one roller for each foot of width plus one more per curtain.

NOTE: When fractions of a foot are ordered, individual curtains and straight tracks are priced to the next larger foot per dimension.
